Carbs in fruits and veggies do count, but you don’t add up the carbs and sugar. Sugar is already included in the carbs – it’s just listed separately on labels because some people want to see a breakdown of how much of the carbs are sugars (versus other, complex carbs). If it says 2g carbs and 2g sugar, it means there is 2g total carbs and all of them are sugar (in this case).

It could also be that your body’s healthy weight is a little higher than what you’d like – which doesn’t mean you can’t lose, but makes it more difficult. Mine didn’t turn out super firm. It was somewhat crumbly, but not the “dust” that some have complained of. I used a silicone liner on the baking sheet for easy removal. I baked it about 5 minutes longer than recommended, but it felt set to the touch, so I removed it. I used a pizza roller while it was still warm to cut it into little squares right on the baking sheet, which were firm enough to keep their shape. DELICIOUS!! More cinnamon flavor and far tastier, but less crunch, than Cinnamon Toast Crunch from my erstwhile fat days. For the coating, I used Sukrin Gold, which is an erythritol based brown sugar sub. Wow!! Tastes like I’m eating snickerdoodles dunked in (almond) milk; the texture is similar, as well. Can’t speak highly enough for this surefire winner that just hit the spot!
I just made these and followed the advice of another comment. I added a scoop of vanilla whey protein and a scoop of sour cream. I did not have a donut pan so used my regular sized muffin tins. I buttered the tins very generously. I filled half full and it made 10. I shortened the baking time to 13 minutes which was perfect. I made a glaze of heavy whipping cream and powdered swerve for half and the cinnamon sugar combination for the other half. They are fabulous!

Made them tonight. I thought I messed them up since they looked eggy but really they turned out great. I can’t do gluten so I tried the xanthum and I also added some garlic powder to the mix for taste.i think I cooked for 7 minutes total.we actually sliced them into little squares and threw them into homemade chicken noodle soup. It tasted close to dumpling style noodles. Not slick/chewy but very good. My 14 year old T1 loved them and wants me to make more. Overall it absolutely loved these. I think I might have been in ketosis sooner but after 1 month I took my blood test at night and I was surely in and I had felt all the good effects of it too, like no hunger between meals etc. It wasn’t difficult to reduce the carbs to 20 net because you’re replacing it with good healthy fat which is so filling. I think my body likes to hold on to the fat as stubbornly as yours and I agree stress doesn’t help, but I have always been a slow loser. I’d suggest taking measurements and body fat and pictures so you can see the difference. If you really think you’re not progressing you may have to reduce calories too.

Yum! My fiance wanted me to make him some cereal as he starts on his keto journey. This one looked relatively simple so I gave it a try tonight. Subbed macadamia nuts for the hazelnuts and added a small handful of hemp seeds just for fun. It is so good! Will definitely be putting this on my list of things to make regularly! But I just made some biscuits from an old cooking book, which had Almonds grounded (so I just used my almond flour) & I switched sugar for some xylitol & then thought I’d use the Coconut flour in place of ordinary Plain Flour! I did it cup for cup, so it was 2/3 cup……remembered about needing more liquid, so I added an egg (receipt already had 150g butter, which I put in 160g) They taste nice, but I think maybe I should have reduced the coconut flour, after reading your points, or added another egg, or more butter, what would you do? The ketogenic diet achieved national media exposure in the US in October 1994, when NBC's Dateline television programme reported the case of Charlie Abrahams, son of Hollywood producer Jim Abrahams. The two-year-old suffered from epilepsy that had remained uncontrolled by mainstream and alternative therapies. Abrahams discovered a reference to the ketogenic diet in an epilepsy guide for parents and brought Charlie to John M. Freeman at Johns Hopkins Hospital, which had continued to offer the therapy. Under the diet, Charlie's epilepsy was rapidly controlled and his developmental progress resumed. This inspired Abrahams to create the Charlie Foundation to promote the diet and fund research.[10] A multicentre prospective study began in 1994, the results were presented to the American Epilepsy Society in 1996 and were published[17] in 1998. But many people have found they still have to take insulin for all of those 36 grams of carbs, but that the carbs do raise their blood sugar slower than a normal serving of 36 grams of carbs. Others say they don’t see a spike in their blood sugar and the pasta is indeed low-impact. You will have to experiment and decide for yourself!

Hi Mel, Assuming that your ranch dressing doesn’t have sugar added, you don’t need to worry too much about limiting it, but within reason. This is my homemade ranch dressing recipe, which has 0.9g net carbs per 2-tbsp serving. It would be hard to find a store bought one with much less than that, even though some round anything less than 1g down to 0g, which isn’t truly accurate. Also, keep in mind that if weight loss is your goal, some people find that too much dairy can cause a stall. Finally, make sure you aren’t using all your “available” carbs on ranch dressing – have it with some low carb veggies!
Hi Patti, It’s up to you if you want to go by weight or by volume. I include both for convenience. Some people don’t want to weigh all their food, though weighing is definitely more accurate. The volumes listed are based on how a food is normally served, so for iceberg lettuce it would be chopped, not minced. It sounds like you’re weighing anyway, so in this case just use the weights instead (they are shown in grams in parentheses next to the volumes). Hope this helps!

Make sure you purchase the finest blanched almond flour that has no darker specks of skin. Sometimes a hot cereal hits the spot, but with around 28 grams per serving, regular oatmeal may overshoot your carb goals. Although the KD has shown promise as an alternative dietary strategy for weight management, it should be approached with caution. Acutely, the KD causes physiological changes which may manifest as the “keto flu,” a set of symptoms which commonly includes headache, nausea, gastrointestinal upset and fatigue. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a low-carbohydrate, ketogenic diet (LCKD) in overweight and obese patients with type 2 diabetes over 16 weeks. 2. Adzuki Bean Pasta from ExploreAsian, Gluten-Free: This one has a different flavor than it’s black bean counterpart, and has twice as many carbs. But at 11 grams of carbs per serving, that’s still a lot fewer carbs than traditional pasta. You could even mix this pasta into the pot of boiling water with the black bean pasta to change things up and reduce the carbs in your bowl at the same time. (This company has some higher carb bean pasta variations, too!)
The easiest way to successfully stay on the keto diet is by meal planning for the week. I have dozens of keto meal prep recipes that are low carb and absolutely delicious, these recipes will make it easy for you to stay on track for the keto diet. It is really important to stick to the keto diet plan otherwise, your body will get kicked out of ketosis and you will have to start over. It’s not the end of the world, but your body performs best in ketosis and that is when you can really lose weight.
It’s a habit to enjoy a brie cheese for desert instead of a piece of chocolate cake but each are favored deserts in France. I’m personally more satisfied after a 350 calorie sized wedge of brie than the same number of calories of cake.. which will give me sugar crash and .. really I’d like two slices of cake(I’ve got a sweet tooth that once I get going it wants to keep being fed)
