Finally! A granola that I don’t HAVE to put any kind of a sweetener in! I’ve been keto for almost 2 years and have really missed a good bowl of granola/cereal for breakfast. Your recipe is perfect. I made it ahead of time and keep it in an airtight container. It’s so nice to be able to grab the container, pour some in a bowl and enjoy, and for me, I find that the nuts give a good flavor without the sweetener. I’m always looking for recipes that I don’t HAVE to use a sweetener in because almost all of the ones used in LCHF recipes cause war in my bowels, sigh. This recipe is perfect. THANK YOU so much for getting online for the rest of us. 🙂

Congratulations on your keto success! i started keto on September 2, 2017 after reaching my highest weight ever of 192. As of this morning, I’ve lost 50 pounds, weighing 142. I’ve struggled with weight my entire life, & never thought I would be this size or weigh this little. I have never felt better! My hormones are stabilized (I’m 60, so I have the perimenopausal thing going on); my acid reflux is almost completely gone; my arthritis symptoms are gone; I’m sleeping MUCH better; and my skin isn’t dry! I started keto for weight loss, but now I know the weight loss is a perk. I’m never “hangry” and have been able to incorporate 24 – 48 hour fasting into my weekly regime with no difficulty. I do intermittent fasting every day, eating all my food in 8 – 12 hours daily. My “food obsession” is gone; yet, I love eating more than I ever did pre-keto! I eat only when I’m hungry (not by a clock) and stop when I’m satisfied. I agree that a lot of docs still are not on board with keto. A great book to understand keto from a medical perspective is Jimmy Moore’s Keto Clarity. I think the reason some people don’t do well on keto is they have a difficult time embracing the idea of eating “this much fat”. Happily, I’m an “all or nothing” person, so when I started keto, I jumped in – and found that the fat fills me up faster & keeps me full longer so I don’t have cravings. When I do want something sweet, I make a keto treat – but it’s not every day or even every week. Most of the time, I’m super happy on my bacon, sour cream, cream cheese, and fattier meats! I am keto for life – there is no reason to go back to eating any other way!

I made this bread several times now using ground flaxseed in place of the psyllium powder and it came out perfect every time. I decided to try it as a sweet bread and added 1/2 cup raisins, 1 Tbsp. cinnamon, 1/4 cup erythritol and 2 Tbsp. Splenda. After it was done I iced it with 1/2 cup powdered sugar mixed with enough milk (about 1 Tbsp. to keep it thick but a little runny. Now I have a healthy, delicious, loaf of cinnamon raisin bread. Thanks for the great recipe!

Organic Soy Flour. Soy flour is derived from ground soybeans. It is somewhat similar to coconut flour in that it is quite dry and easily absorbs ingredients. It also has more protein than the keto flours we mentioned above and is an excellent source of dietary fiber. By buying organic soy flour, you can avoid GMO soybeans and the pesticides that are commonly used on them.
I’m trying your recipe for the first time. It is very similar to a bun recipe that I make with psyllium husks so I am incorporating the method from that into this recipe. I made a few slight changes… I added garlic powder ground Rosemary and oregano, one quarter cup ground flaxseed, one tablespoon apple cider vinegar. I only used 3 eggs, and increased the Water by 2 tablespoons. By adding apple cider vinegar and the baking soda, they create a very light effervescent foam as they interactwhen I add the warm water, which acts naturally to the raise the bread, thereby allowing me to decrease the eggs. I added the extra water due to the extra dry ingredients. I’m very confident that this will work out very well. It always works with my buns so I’m eager to test this out. Thank you again for the base recipe.

Prior to the advent of exogenous insulin for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in the 1920's, the mainstay of therapy was dietary modification. Diet recommendations in that era were aimed at controlling glycemia (actually, glycosuria) and were dramatically different from current low-fat, high-carbohydrate dietary recommendations for patients with diabetes [1,2]. For example, the Dr. Elliot Joslin Diabetic Diet in 1923 consisted of "meats, poultry, game, fish, clear soups, gelatin, eggs, butter, olive oil, coffee, tea" and contained approximately 5% of energy from carbohydrates, 20% from protein, and 75% from fat [3]. A similar diet was advocated by Dr. Frederick Allen of the same era [4].

5. Ciao Carb: Like Carba-Nada, there are still plenty of carbs in this pasta, but fewer than traditional pasta, at 17 grams per serving after subtracting the fiber. Made with a variety of soy, gluten, wheat, and egg, in my opinion these don’t come anywhere near the wholesomeness of the bean pasta varieties at the top of this list. But if you’re looking for something that looks like pasta and tastes like pasta, without quite as much carby-boom, this will do it for you!
I’ve done the micro version for slices and it was quite good. Today trying the loaf recipe – but with the micro version and this one my mix never comes out like a batter – more like a moist dough. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong please? I have to say though that you are wonderful giving me a non carb bread – my husband loves bread and needs to lose weight. Many thanks!

1. These cookies are lightly sweetened. If you want them sweeter add more Sukrin Gold (2 tbsp) or add a little stevia glycerite (1/4 tsp) and taste. 2. All ovens are different and baking temps and/or times may need to be adjusted. If you have a wall oven, you might want to cook at 325 degrees F. The cookies might have to go a little longer if you do. 3. Be careful not to pack the almond flour and oat fiber. Packing ingredients leads to using more and can result in dry baked goods. 4. For a flatter, softer cookie use 4 oz of sliced almonds instead of 5 ounces and bake for slightly less time. Also use a room temperature egg instead of a cold egg. 5. Ingredient substitutions may affect texture, moisture content, and cooking time.
I liked this product a lot it fit in perfectly with my low carb diet. It is quite tasty and I enjoyed it with my morning coffee. My only camplaint is how Amazon packed it for shipping. They have become quite careless with their packing to protect items that can smash. The outer box of this product often will be damaged but the cereal in separate bags is usually fine.
The first modern study of fasting as a treatment for epilepsy was in France in 1911.[12] Twenty epilepsy patients of all ages were "detoxified" by consuming a low-calorie vegetarian diet, combined with periods of fasting and purging. Two benefited enormously, but most failed to maintain compliance with the imposed restrictions. The diet improved the patients' mental capabilities, in contrast to their medication, potassium bromide, which dulled the mind.[13]

It is easier than ever to eat all of your favorite foods while following a low-carb ketogenic diet. All you need is the right combination of low-carb flours and ingredients to make delicious keto-friendly breads, cookies, cakes, hamburger buns, etc. At this point, I’d be surprised if there are any high-carb recipes that cannot be made into a healthier, low-carb version.
The ketogenic diet is one of the most talked about and debated diet trends today. You’ve probably heard celebrities, athletes, and neighbors raving about the benefits of this dietary approach. Interestingly, the science backs up its rapid growth in popularity, as a ketogenic diet has been shown to have numerous health benefits for its adherents. The diet can reduce the risk of heart disease, improve glycemic control in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, help individuals struggling with obesity lower their BMI, and even improve or control symptoms of debilitating neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson’s and epilepsy. There is even some evidence to suggest that a ketogenic diet can play a role in the treatment of cancer! If it is implemented properly, adopting a ketogenic diet can be a very powerful tool in the fight against a variety of chronic diseases.

It starts with limiting carbohydrate intake to just 20–30 net grams per day. “Net carbs” describes the amount of carbs remaining once dietary fiber is taken into account. Because fiber is indigestible once consumed, simply don’t count grams of fiber toward their daily carb allotment. So that means subtracting grams of fiber from total carb games, to give you the total net carbs.
Being healthy is all about getting the right nutrients and vitamins from your food so always include variety in your diet. Have plenty of meat (or fish), dairy and veggies on a daily basis based on this low carb food list. Use coconut oil and olive oil when you cook and in your salads (respectively) and have a handful of nuts or berries from time to time.
The ketogenic diet is usually initiated in combination with the patient's existing anticonvulsant regimen, though patients may be weaned off anticonvulsants if the diet is successful. Some evidence of synergistic benefits is seen when the diet is combined with the vagus nerve stimulator or with the drug zonisamide, and that the diet may be less successful in children receiving phenobarbital.[18]
Carbohydrates are a good source of quick energy to fuel your body's natural functions and keep you going during busy days. They have gotten a bad reputation in the fitness and weight-loss worlds, though, because many typical carbs that people take in are starchy, sugary, salty and contain no useful nutrition. Choose the right kind of low-carb cereal and you can enjoy a quick and convenient breakfast or snack entirely guilt-free.

Hello, I found your recipes after reading A Year of No Sugar by Eva Schaub and needing some delicious sugar free recipes. I recently decided to try keto and am almost done a 2 week challenge (more low carb than true keto but have kept the carbs below 70g, except 1 day). My questions are is alcohol allowed in your view? I’m not a huge drinker but I do like a glass of wine with dinner. What about “cheat” days. I’m not planning to go back to eating all the processed foods but denying them completely seems pretty counter intuitive and I’m hoping for ideas. Last question, what about fruit? How can any food plan completely rule out fruit? That also seems unhealthy and I’m wondering if you think ekto should be used as a temporary weight loss plan, with low carb being the longer term plan? Thank you! And you look amazing in the photos.
Coconut flour is a low carbohydrate alternative to regular flour. A quarter cup serving contains 16 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of fiber, 4 grams of fat and 4 grams of protein for a total of 120 calories.  While it’s a bit higher in carbs compared to other low carb substitutes for flour, it makes up for it in texture. Its light appearance and consistency make it more absorbent than any other flours.
But traditional cereals contain simple carbohydrates, which are the enemy of low carb dieters. Before you despair, know that there are plenty of low carb cereals you can find in your grocery store; they are made with soy and whole grains, which provide a lot of fiber, and are low in sugar. Here are five of the best low carb cereal brands to look for next time you go shopping.
Hi! I tried making the bread using my homemade almond flour left over from the almond milk pulp (I dry it and then blend it). The batter wasn’t as wet as yours in the video and it didn’t rise at all and was very dense. Since it wasn’t that wet I couldn’t mix it enough to get air bubbles. My baking powder isn’t fresh so maybe that’s the cause like you said. Since it wasn’t fresh I did add 1 tsp. baking soda and 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar. Also, my almond flour doesn’t look as light and fluffy as yours.
The keto diet focuses on eating foods that are low in carbohydrates and high in fat. It is very similar to the Atkins diet, but doesn’t not allow for as much protein. By eating a diet low in carbs and high in fat you are able to put your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. To properly follow the keto diet, you need to educate yourself on which foods are keto diet friendly and plan on making meals at home. It’s almost impossible to eat out at restaurants on the keto diet because they use sugar and starches in almost everything. Meal prep while on the keto diet is a must, so make sure to check on all of my keto diet meal plan ideas to get you inspired.

Keto low carb: less than 20 grams of carbs per day. This level will be ketogenic for most people — if protein intake remains moderate. In our keto recipes, less than 4 per cent of its total energy is coming from carbs, and the rest will come from protein and fat. In keto recipes we also keep the protein level moderate, as excess protein can be converted to glucose in your body. See note* below.

I was soo excited to get a bowl of cereal, only to discover I bought sweetened vanilla almond milk by mistake! My granola did not stick together, though it tasted so good! I did not add a sweetener and my pumpkin seeds and almonds we’re salted. Will try with sweetener next time. Like you, I kept snacking from the container! Ended up eating 1/2 cup of granola with 1/4 cup of the almond milk. I doubled the almonds and pecans, then added a small bag of sliced almonds and. Pumpkin seeds. Didn’t have golden flax meal, so put ground flax seed. Would have been even better had I bought some mixed nuts! Will have to refigure the macros, as I am mostly eating almonds, but I’d say you have a winner! Thank you! Would you consider a 1/2 cup a serving?
Hi Barb, That can definitely be it. Losing when you are close to goal can be more difficult. It could also be that your body’s healthy weight is a little higher than what you’d like – which doesn’t mean you can’t lose, but makes it more difficult. If just eating Keto foods isn’t working, double check the macros for your weight and see if the amount you’re eating needs to be adjusted. You’ll find more help and support in our support group here.

We know from our research in blue zones longevity hotspots that the longest-lived people in the world eat a whole food, plant-slant diet that is highlighted with whole grains, beans, nuts, and leafy greens. Their diet is 90-95 percent plant-based and oftentimes about 50-65 percent of their daily caloric intake comes from carbohydrates. These are not highly processed carbohydrates like white bread or sugary drinks, but whole foods like sweet potatoes, beans, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables.

During the 1920s and 1930s, when the only anticonvulsant drugs were the sedative bromides (discovered 1857) and phenobarbital (1912), the ketogenic diet was widely used and studied. This changed in 1938 when H. Houston Merritt, Jr. and Tracy Putnam discovered phenytoin (Dilantin), and the focus of research shifted to discovering new drugs. With the introduction of sodium valproate in the 1970s, drugs were available to neurologists that were effective across a broad range of epileptic syndromes and seizure types. The use of the ketogenic diet, by this time restricted to difficult cases such as Lennox–Gastaut syndrome, declined further.[10]

Thanks for providing these recipes. I just made the bread from the recipe and I noticed my batter was more wet than yours in the video and that it was actually to wet to form a domed top. After baking I also found that the loaf did not rise as much as yours. I followed the recipe exactly except possibly the coconut oil which was refrigerated, (not sure why) which made it very hard to try to measure exactly. Could this be why the bread did not turn out properly. It’s still cooling but I assume that it will taste good even though it is only 2″ tall.
