It is, without fail, the cereal I see the most people purchase when I am at the grocery store. We knew that if we were going to attempt a low carb cereal we would need to pick one that everyone could undoubtedly agree upon as the best, so we decided on Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
First reported in 2003, the idea of using a form of the Atkins diet to treat epilepsy came about after parents and patients discovered that the induction phase of the Atkins diet controlled seizures. The ketogenic diet team at Johns Hopkins Hospital modified the Atkins diet by removing the aim of achieving weight loss, extending the induction phase indefinitely, and specifically encouraging fat consumption. Carbohydrates are initially limited to 10 g per day in children or 20 g per day in adults, and are increased to 20–30 g per day after a month or so, depending on the effect on seizure control or tolerance of the restrictions. Like the ketogenic diet, the MAD requires vitamin and mineral supplements and children are carefully and periodically monitored at outpatient clinics.[48]

I received these today. They came packed with cold packs that were not cold at all. The tracking info shows that they were delivered at 3pm and I arrived home at 5pm. It was if they were not refrigerated at all. Tried the original crust tonight anyway. Very tasty. The crusts are small and one crust is pretty much a meal for one person but worth the money especially if you ever made cauliflower crust from scratch.

I love hearts of palm, I am steering away from pasta and other carbs. Hello? Made for me. Bought two cans. Made one two hours after delivery (with shrimp and a pesto-fredo sauce) and it was awesome. Delish. Fantabulous. I did not plop it into boiling water so I didn't get a chance to try it "softened" more like pasta and I don't really feel the need to. It was it's own experience and one I will keep buying into. Please buy this so they can keep making it, maybe they can try other pasta types as well. I'm partial to pappardelle
For those who prefer to weigh ingredients rather than volume measure everything, here are my weights: using Honeyville almond flour, 2 cups is 6.5 ounces; and NOW brand psyllium husk you need 1 ounce. (I have the husks so I ground some to a fine powder in my coffee/spice grinder and measured 1/4 cup of the powder, which weighed 1 ounce or 31 grams. In future, I will just weigh 31 grams of husks into the grinder and know I have the right amount.) A quarter cup of coconut oil, like other fats, weighs 2 ounces.

To replace 1 egg, mix 1 tbsp ground flax meal with 3 tbsp of water and allow it to swell. This can be used to replace the eggs but it will not give to properties that eggs do. Eggs help bind the ingredients, eggs help the baking become light, fluffy and rise. Eggs help emulsify the mixture. This formula is used in many vegan recipes or those who are allergic to eggs. If a recipe is heavily based on eggs, this substitution will not work.

As I mentioned already, the body will burn sugar for energy before it burns fat. Most people will do very well in the range of 0.8-1.2 grams of protein per KG of bodyweight they have. To convert your bodyweight into KG, simply take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2.2. This number can then be multiplied by 0.8 and 1.2 to determine your protein range.

Low-carbohydrate, or low-carb, flour is similar in function to regular flour, but the source of the flour is different. Most flour comes from wheat and grains, but low-carb flour typically comes from nuts, seeds or legumes, which accounts for the lower carbohydrate amount. As a trade off, most of these sources are higher in fat, which may be a problem for some people. Protein, fat and carbohydrate amounts are different from ordinary flour, so this flour typically will perform and act differently compared to regular white flour. A potential problem is that this type of flour is made from many common allergens, so people with certain food sensitivities may become sick from using this flour.
If no food processor is at hand, you can also do it by hand (it just takes a little more time and arm muscle!). Add all the dry ingredients to a large bowl and whisk until thoroughly combined. Pour in vinegar and whisk until thoroughly distributed. Pour in egg while whisking vigorously and keep whisking until the dough becomes too stiff to whisk. Using your hands, knead the dough until thoroughly incorporated, adding a teaspoon of water at a time as needed (we use 2).

Most people don’t know this but when mitochondria make energy, they also produce oxidative stress. Think of how an engine burns gas to make energy and waste products, it is somewhat similar.
