To make squares: Place dough on a piece of parchment paper, with a second piece of parchment on top. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a thin and even layer about 1/4-1/8” thick. Remove the top piece of parchment paper. Using a pizza cutter, cut into small squares (about 1”). Bake in the oven for 5 minutes, then take baking sheet from oven and carefully break up the squares (so they’re no longer connected). Bake for another 7 minutes. Allow to cool and enjoy!

I think melted and solid coconut oil pretty much have the same volume, or if it changes, the amount of volume lost or gained is negligible 😉 Sometimes I make coconut oil bites by pouring 1-tbs servings of melted coconut oil mixed with something to give them flavours (matcha powder, raw cacao powder, essential oils, etc) on an ice cube tray and when they turn solid it looks like the volume is about the same.
A 4-ounce serving of House Foods Tofu Shirataki Spaghetti contains 10 calories, .5 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrates and less than 1 gram of protein. A 2-ounce serving (the weight is different because shiritaki noodles are already cooked) of Barilla Angel Hair pasta contains 200 calories, 1 gram of fat, 42 grams of carbohydrates and 7 grams of protein.

Erythitol gives me painful tummy cramps; Swerve or Pyure and generic brands all cause this. 1 tsp liquid stevia or liquid Splenda is equivalent to 1 C erythitol, so 1/4-1/2 tsp is enough for this recipe. However adding a liquid sweetener offsets the solid to liquid ratio. I usually add sifted egg protein powder in the amount of the powered sweetener. A glaze can be made with coconut milk, liquid sweetener, and thickened with xanthan gum. A lemon extract or raspberry extract are perfect for flavoring the glaze.

The KD stands in stark contrast to current macronutrient recommendations for both health promotion, as well as enhancement of athletic performance (7,21). The KD is characterized by a macronutrient distribution ratio consisting of approximately 70 – 80% fat, 10 – 20% protein and <5% carbohydrate (CHO), with daily CHO intake limited to ≤50 grams. Two of the most prominent and vocal researchers of the KD, Jeff Volek, PhD and Stephen Phinney, MD, PhD, in their book The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance, recommend protein consumption of 0.6 – 1.0 grams per lb of lean body mass, a figure which almost perfectly matches the commonly recommended protein intake for athletes (i.e., 1.2 – 2.0 g/kg bodyweight) (21,26). With CHO intake radically restricted and protein within the commonly recommended range, fat becomes the primary macronutrient target for manipulation.
A survey in 2005 of 88 paediatric neurologists in the US found that 36% regularly prescribed the diet after three or more drugs had failed, 24% occasionally prescribed the diet as a last resort, 24% had only prescribed the diet in a few rare cases, and 16% had never prescribed the diet. Several possible explanations exist for this gap between evidence and clinical practice.[34] One major factor may be the lack of adequately trained dietitians, who are needed to administer a ketogenic diet programme.[31]
So imagine my delight, as an adult, every time I get to pour a bowl of keto friendly cereal comprised completely of paleo granola clusters that I feel good about! I’m willing to bet that your inner child is going to be just as excited about this homemade sugar-free granola when you try it, too. Paleo cereal can now be a part of your morning routine and I highly recommend a sprinkle of it on keto oatmeal too!
I am a recent convert to using freeze-dried fruit and if you try this amazing crunchy granola you will see why. The fruit has a much more intense flavor than fresh berries and helps to add that fruity note to the nuts and coconut flakes. It also makes this cereal more child-friendly because the fruit turns the milk pink! This granola can also be formed into bars to give you a boost of energy through the day.
These take care of my bread craving. And, being a person who didn’t want to start out by purchasing a donut pan, I used and 8×8 glass pan; greased and lined (the bottom) with parchment paper. The recipe has the consistency of pudding before it sets and easily conforms to the pan. Also, since I used a glass pan, I lowered the temperature to 325 degrees, cooking time was the same. I cut my ‘donut cake’ into 6ths and it’s delicious. I also I don’t add the topping. Thank you for this recipe.
Check nutritionally-complete low-carb menus with under 50 grams of net carbohydrate per day to see what a ketogenic diet could look like. These menus are, however, going to be too high in protein for some people to remain in ketosis, and some of them may be a little high in carb if you have very poor carb tolerance. Keep in mind that ketogenic diets should always be tailored to the individual.
You can still get a super crisp crust on chicken while keeping it moist and juicy on the inside. There are a few ways to do this, but the best method we’ve found is by grinding up pork rinds in the food processor and adding parmesan cheese to the mix. This will result in a fantastic crust all the way around your chicken, giving you the perfect keto fried chicken.
Hi Maya! I’ve been trying to lose weight on a low fat diet, to no avail, so I’m trying Keto. I came across your recipe while looking for almond flour bread recipes. (Love the occasional turkey breast half-sammie for lunch or the occasional toasted slice for breakfast). Yours appears to be a very carefully thought-out recipe which I’m anxious to try. I really like how you explained things so thoroughly, gave tips. There’s nothing like learning with the benefit of others’ tried and tested experience. I’m not rating this recipe since I haven’t tried it yet, but based on your effort alone, it gets five stars! Many thanks, Alice
Interested in trying a fad diet? There are plenty to choose from, and low-carb pasta can be incorporated into most. The Atkins, ketogenic, and paleo diets — to name just a few — all prescribe a low-carb lifestyle to support health and fitness. On these diets, instead of consuming carbs for energy, you will eat protein, healthy fats, fruits, and veggies. Each of the aforementioned programs allows for a small portion of carbs each day, so you can chow down on low-carb pasta without falling off plan.
With just 4g of carbs, this pasta, made from hearts of palm, is a plant-based pasta substitute you may not have heard about before. Palmini is low in calories, high in fiber, gluten free, and looks more like traditional pasta than some other alternatives. It can be purchased canned or in pouches. While you can eat it straight from the package, it also cooks up well—keeping its pasta-like consistency.

Consequently, when you begin a ketogenic diet, it acts as a metabolic stressor on the body. In the process of relearning how to burn fat for energy, a mild metabolic stress is inflicted upon your mitochondria. This stress is just powerful enough to kill off old and dysfunctional mitochondria which stimulates the growth of new and more powerful mitochondria (5). The end result is more energy and a higher level of vitality.

There’s nothing like pouring a bowl of low carb cereal with almond milk for an easy morning breakfast. These low carb granola and low carb muesli recipes are made from nuts and seeds resulting in a nourishing sugar free, gluten free, and grain free breakfast option. Because they are very nutritionally dense, enjoy a small portion. Enjoy a spoonful on full fat Greek yogurt or ice cream.

Your glycogen stores can still be refilled while on a ketogenic diet. A keto diet is an excellent way to build muscle, but protein intake is crucial here. It’s suggested that if you are looking to gain mass, you should be taking in about 1.0 – 1.2g protein per lean pound of body mass. Putting muscle on may be slower on a ketogenic diet, but that’s because your total body fat is not increasing as much.5Note that in the beginning of a ketogenic diet, both endurance athletes and obese individuals see a physical performance for the first week of transition.

The first modern study of fasting as a treatment for epilepsy was in France in 1911.[12] Twenty epilepsy patients of all ages were "detoxified" by consuming a low-calorie vegetarian diet, combined with periods of fasting and purging. Two benefited enormously, but most failed to maintain compliance with the imposed restrictions. The diet improved the patients' mental capabilities, in contrast to their medication, potassium bromide, which dulled the mind.[13]

For those wanting paleo donuts, some people are okay with erythritol since it’s a natural sweetener. If you aren’t, you can make these with coconut sugar if that’s more paleo-friendly for you. They just won’t be low carb or sugar-free, but will be paleo. If you just need gluten-free but don’t care about the sugar-free part, try gluten-free cinnamon sugar donuts.
While low-carb simply describes a vague behavior pattern that is subject to each person, ketosis is an objective and measurable fat-burning state of the human body. It is when the body’s metabolism switches gears to burn fat for energy instead of sugar. It is this metabolic state in which people experience the full benefits of a ketogenic lifestyle.

Hi, Just wanted to thank you for this recipe. Although I cook a lot, I never had such a great idea. I cooked the noodles in the microwave in a square glass container because I didn’t want to wait. I cut in halves and used them as lasagna’s pasta. Its was absolutely delicious. Is as good or even better than the real thing. Thanks again for sharing. From now on my life is different!

Just made these, without a silpat (I used parchment) and with a wonky cookie sheet (I desperately need a new one, and will have one before I make these again) but they were great! I really wanted chicken noodle soup, as I woke up this morning with a sore throat.. These are awesome!! Very little taste, not eggy at all, and my chicken soup really hit the spot! Thanks!
